Purple Knights Never Trail In 75-64 Home Men's Basketball Win Over Stonehill
Senior D’Vonne Trumbo Nets A Season-High 23 Points As UB Ups Winning Streak To Six Games
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team never trailed on Wednesday afternoon as the Purple Knights ran their winning streak to six games with a 75-64 home victory over the Stonehill Skyhawks in UB's final non-conference contest of the season. Bridgeport is now 10-2 overall, and Stonehill goes to 8-6 on the season.
UB senior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) led all scorers on the day with a season-high 23 points, as he went 8-for-14 from the floor including knocking down five three-point shots. Trumbo had an excellent all-around afternoon grabbing six rebounds, dishing off five assists and making one steal.
He was joined in double-digit scoring by juniors Juan Coffi (Barcelona, Spain) with 13 points, and Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) with 12 points.
Senior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) contributed a fine all-around game for the winners scoring nine points, grabbing a team-best seven rebounds and adding five assists and three steals.
Brandon Twitty led three Skyhawks in double figures with 15 points on the day.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team heads off to a weekend in Western New York beginning with a game at Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday evening. Tip-time is set for 8:00 p.m.
