Senior Bakary Camara Scores A Career-High 25 Points To Help Purple Knights To Fifth Straight Victory
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team ran its winning streak to five games and raised it overall season record to 9-2 with an impressive 95-86 home win over a strong Dominican (N.Y.) College team on Monday afternoon in the Park City. With the loss, the Chargers are now 9-3 overall.
Leading 41-37 at the half, the Bridgeport offense moved into overdrive in the second half scoring 54 points, as the Purple Knights sot 63.3 percent from the floor (19-of-30), including going 6-for-10 from behind the three-point arc.
Senior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) closed out the 2019 calendar year in fine style scoring a career-high 25 points to lead the Purple Knights, as he went 9-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the foul line. Camara had an excellent all-around game on Monday, as he dished off a game-high six assists, grabbed four rebounds, had three steals and added a blocked shot.
Joining Bakary in double figures for the winners were junior Juan Coffi (Barcelona, Spain) with a season-high 18 points off the Bridgeport bench; classmate Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) with 17 points to tie a season-high and senior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) with 11 points.
Coffi led the Purple Knights on the glass with six rebounds on the afternoon.
Tedrick Wilcox led the visitors with 23 points.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will return to the court in the New Year looking to extend the squad's winning streak to six on Wednesday, January 8 when the Stonehill College Skyhawks come to Hubbell Gym. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
