Bridgeport Men Lead Wire-To-Wire In 86-58 Home Win Over Queens (N.Y.) College
Purple Knights Now 8-6 In Conference Play And 13-11 Overall
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team upped its season record to 13-11 overall and moved to 8-6 in the East Coast Conference with an 86-58 home ECC win over the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Saturday afternoon in the Park City. QC falls to 7-18 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
Bridgeport never trailed in the game and led 37-24 at the half. For the game, the Purple Knights shot 54.4 percent from the floor connecting on 37-of-68 field goals.
UB sophomore Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) led all scorers and rebounders on the day finishing with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Abbas was joined in double figures by seniors Dennis Green Bronx, N.Y.) with 16 points and Vakas Iqbal (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 15 points plus sophomore Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia) contributed 10 points for the winners.
Dwayne Henry Jr. led Queens with 15 points.
Saturday game was also Make-A-Wish Day in Hubbell Gym.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will play its regular season home finale hosting LIU post on Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym. Senior Night action is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
