Men's Hoops Falls To Unbeaten St. Anselm To Close Out Play Before The Holiday Break
Junior Bakary Camara Leads UB With 20 Points
Bridgeport, Conn - A 20-10 run over the first seven minutes of the second half propelled the fourth-ranked Saint Anselm College Hawks to a 94-79 non-conference victory over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Tuesday afternoon at Hubbell Gymnasium.
After Bridgeport led 40-37 at halftime and forced 17 turnovers, the Hawks were propelled by a game-high, 27-point effort from Chris Paul, who scored 20 points in the second half.
Junior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) posted a season-best 20 points to lead the Purple Knights offensively, as the hosts had four players who notched double-digit scoring totals. Sophomore Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) chipped in with 16 points and classmate Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) added 11 points with three assists and two steals. Senior Eric Rankin (Bronx, NY) rounded out the quartet of double-digit scorers with 15 points.
The UB Purple Knights will now step away from the hardwood during the holiday period, and the team return to action on Saturday, December 29, as they begin a two-game in two-day stretch with a non-conference game against Stonehill College. Tip-off at the Merkert Gymnasium in Easton, Mass. is set for 12 noon.
