Ballpark at Harbor YardSports: Baseball The UB baseball team began playing it's home games at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in the 2006 season. The stadium, which opened its doors in 1998, was built and is owned by the city of Bridgeport. The ballpark also serves as the home of the Bridgeport Bluefish, a founding member of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Believing that the Ballpark at Harbor Yard would be one of the important pieces of Bridgeport's renewal, Jack McGregor chose its name as an allusion to Baltimore's renewal of the Camden Yards neighborhood. The stadium occupies an area once home to some of Bridgeport's most notable homes and industries. Kids at the ballpark can play at the Hi-Ho D'Addario Kids' Cove, which provides entertainment for children with a variety of playground equipment. |
