Bio

The 2017 season will mark the fifth year that Josh Parrow will serve as Bridgeport’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

Before entering the coaching ranks, Parrow was a pitcher on the Purple Knights’ staff for two seasons. In his senior campaign Parrow aided in the best baseball season in school history. Josh played high school baseball at Catholic Central High School in Troy, New York, where he was two-way player for the varsity team. He transferred to the University of Bridgeport from Herkimer County Community College, where he played for head coach Jason Rathbun and helped capture two Mountain Valley conference championships and appear in two regional championships.

Under Parrow’s leadership as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, UB has seen tremendous growth and success.  Accolades include an appearance in the East Coast Conference Championship game five of the last six seasons, the University’s first ECC regular reason championship and in 2016 the University’s first trip to an NCAA regional. Parrow got his start in coaching where he was named Coach of the Year in the West Haven Twilight League in 2011. In 2014, Parrow served as the Pitching Coach for the North Adams SteepleCats in the New England Colligate Baseball League (NECBL). In 2015 he served as the Westerners’ Pitching Coach, providing experience working with the country’s top collegiate baseball players. In 2016 Parrow took the reigns as the head coach of the Danbury Westerners of the New England Colligate Baseball League (NECBL) where in his first season he helped improve Danbury’s win record by 10 games and returned the team to the playoffs for the first time in 3 seasons.  Parrow has directly worked with 13 players in the last three years who have went on to be drafted by Major League Baseball.

A standout in the classroom, Parrow received numerous honors including induction into the Pi Gamma Mu honors society, and the Officer Joseph Corr Award for distinguished Criminal Justice students. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science with honors from the University of Bridgeport and has a Master’s degree in Counseling from UB. Josh is a member of UB’s University Relations Department and currently resides in the Park City.
