Game 2
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport pitchers limited the visiting D'Youville College Saints to only three total hits in both ends of an East Coast Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights blanked the visitors in both games, winning the opener, 12-0, and taking the nightcap, 5-0 to sweep the three-game weekend series. Bridgeport is now both 9-6 overall and in conference play, and D'Youville falls to 2-18 overall and 0-14 in the ECC.

Sophomore Tyler Solomon (Blue Point, N.Y.) and junior Justin Hafele (Shelton, Conn.), each worked a scoreless and hitless inning of relief to wrap up game one for Bridgeport.
On offense in the opener, senior Stephen Giambra (Milford, Conn.) was perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and an RBI. Sophomore Shane McCone (Milford, Conn.) had three hits and drove in three for the winners, and freshman Jake Woods (Stony Brook, N.Y.) also knocked in three runs to help propel the Purple Knights' offense in game one.
In game two, sophomore Justin Nyarady (Trumbull, Conn.) was outstanding in his starting role on the mound earning his first win of the year, as he allowed only one hit with no walks and 10 strikeouts in six innings. Junior Matthew Wirz (Stamford, Conn.) wrapped up the Purple Knights' stellar day on the bump with a scoreless inning of relief to complete the 16 innings of baseball without allowing a run.
UB was limited to only four hits as team in the nightcap, but the team scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a bases loaded walk to freshman Anthony Pascale (Stony Brook, N.Y.), an error, and two-RBI single by sophomore Jacob Rich (Northwood, N.H.) and a run plated by a base knock off the bat of junior Craig Leonard (Holtsville, N.Y.).
Up next, the UB baseball team will play its 2021 home regular season finale next Friday at 3:00 p.m., when the Purple Knights host Molloy College.
