Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team wrapped up its 2018 regular season with a 6-5 loss in 10 innings to the host Mercy College Mavericks on Sunday afternoon. UB heads into next week's East Coast Conference Championship Tournament with a 14-32 overall record and an 11-13 conference mark. Mercy completes its season at 21-28 overall and 10-14 in the ECC.
Graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) drove in three runs and had two hits and Sunday, and freshman Conall Roberts (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) went 3-for-4 at the plate for Bridgeport.
Up next, the fourth-seeded Purple Knight will open play at the 2018 ECC Baseball Championship Tournament on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. when they will face the top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans to open the double-elimination competition. The entire 2018 ECC Baseball Championship will be played at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, N.Y., and hosted by Molloy College.
