Garden City. N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning but could not hold the advantage, as the Purple Knights dropped a tough 10-9 non-conference decision in 11 innings to the host Adelphi University panthers on Tuesday afternoon on Long Island. UB is now 4-25 overall, and the panthers up their season mark to 14-11-1.
UB seniors Jose Negron (New Haven, Conn.), Isaiah Rivera (Newington, Conn.) and Mark Komarmi (Bridgeport, Conn.), all had three hits and drove in a run for the Purple Knights.
Sophomore Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.) had two hits and two runs batted in for Bridgeport, and freshman Logan Allen (Magnolia, Texas) also chipped in two hits for UB.
Up next, the Bridgeport baseball team is slated to open a four-game, weekend East Coast Conference home series versus St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:00 p.m. with a home game at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
