St. Leo, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team suffered its seventh straight loss on Saturday night, as the Purple Knights opened their 2018 Spring Break trip to Florida with a 14-3 loss to nationally-ranked and host Lions of St. Leo College. UB is now 1-9 overall, and St. Leo ups its season mark to 16-2, and the Lions have won 12 in a row.
Graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) continued his hot hitting for the Purple Knights on Saturday going 3-for-4 and driving in two runs. Freshman Logan Allen (Magnolia, Texas) also had three hits, scored two runs and had one RBI on the night. Senior Daren Grabowski (Berlin, Conn.) chipped in two hits on the evening for Bridgeport, and classmate Ben Torres (Hollywood, Fla.) also had a run batted in.
The same two teams will continue their four-game series on Sunday afternoon in the Sunshine State.
