New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport of Bridgeport baseball team raced out to a 5-1 lead after 4 ½ innings, but the host Southern Connecticut State University Owls came back to push across two runs in the bottom of ninth inning to take a 6-5 walk-off win. UB is now 1-5 overall, and SCSU raised its overall mark to 3-2.
Junior Jake Russo (Orange, Conn.) had two hits and two runs batted for the Purple Knights, and freshman Logan Allen (Magnolia, Texas) added a pair of hits and 1 RBI.
Graduate student Tom Rinaldi (Waterbury, Conn.) also had two hits on the day, and senior Isaiah Rivera (Newington, Conn.) had the other Bridgeport run batted in.
The same two teams will meet in a Sunday doubleheader to close out their three-game series.
