Bats Boom As Baseball Tops Bentley, 13-4
Purple Knights Collect 18 Hits In Sunday's Win
Tampa, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team had its hitting shoes on during Sunday's game in Tampa, Florida, as the Purple Knights banged out a total of 19 hits on their way to a 13-4 victory over Bentley University. The wins ups Bridgeport's record to 4-2-1 on the season, and Falcons are now 4-7.
Junior Cam Overbaugh (Catskill, N.Y.) led the UB offensive attack going 4-for-5 at the plate with four runs batted in.
Purple Knights' sophomore Jose Negron (New Haven, Conn.) had a good day at the dish going 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, and senior Alnaydo Rodriguez (Bronx. N.Y.). had two hits and four runs batted in. One his his two hits was a three-run homer run, his first homer of the season.
Junior Casey Ouellette (New Canaan, Conn.) also went 3-for-5 on the day with an RBI.
On the mound, junior Dakota Edwards (Turlock, Calif.) picked up the win to raise his season mark to 2-0, as he worked six innings, allowing seven hits, three runs (two earned) with four strike outs and one base on balls.
On Monday, UB and Bentley will played again at 3:30 p.m. at the University of Tampa, and the Purple Knights will complete the day with a night game against the host Spartans.
