Purple Knights Fall In Another Pitchers' Duel
Brookhaven, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team suffered another tough loss on Wednesday afternoon, as the Purple Knights dropped another pitchers' duel to the Dowling College Golden Lions and their ace Tyler Badamo, as DC prevailed 3-2 to sweep the East Coast Conference series between the two team with Badamo grabbing two victories. UB is 6-16 overall and 0-8 in the ECC. Dowling ups its overall record to 16-7, and the Golden Lions are 7-1 in conference play.
UB freshman starter Sal Lovaglio (Dix Hills, N.Y.) went toe-to-toe with the ECC's best on the mound working six strong innings in which he allowed only three runs (one earned), on four hits while strike out six and walking two. Junior Clayton Morris (Sharpsburg, Ga.) closed the game out for Bridgeport with three scoreless innings of relief.
Freshman Casey Oullette (New Canaan, Conn.) notched two of UB's four hits on the day.
The Bridgeport baseball team is back in action on Friday afternoon at Queens (N.Y.) College, when the club will look to stop a nine-game losing skid in a single game versus the Knights. Action is slated to begin in New York City at 3:00 p.m.
