Shaun Hancock Leads UB Baseball To 3-1 Win At Dowling With His Second Straight Complete Game Victory

Brookhaven, N.Y. - Senior, right-hander Shaun Hancock (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) fired his second consecutive impressive complete game win on the mound for the University of Bridgeport baseball team, as the Purple Knights picked up a 3-1 East Coast Conference road win over the Dowling College Golden Lions on Friday afternoon on Long Island.  UB is now 8-12 overall and 2-3 in conference play.  Dowling falls to 9-12-1 overall and 5-4 in the ECC.

After hurling a seven-hit, complete game win over St. Thomas Aquinas in Sunday afternoon, Hancock went nine innings on Friday in which he allowed only six hits while striking out eight and walking only one.  DC scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning,

Junior John Ascenzia (West Haven, Conn.) knocked in two runs for UB on Friday, and senior Mike Olszyk (Hamden, Conn.) had two hits to lead the Bridgeport offense.

After taking Saturday off, the same two teams will continue their four-game ECC series on Sunday afternoon with a single, nine-inning game again hosted by Dowling.
