Purple Knights Now Head To Florida For Annual Spring Trip Set To Open On Staurday
Brookhaven, N.Y.-The LeMoyne College Dolphins scored two runs in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning to grab a 5-0 lead which they never relinquished on their way to a 6-2 non-conference baseball win over the University of Bridgeport in a neutral site game that was played at Dowling College in Brookhaven, N.Y. LeMoyne is now 5-6 on the young season; while UB heads for its Spring Trip to Florida with a 1-2 record.
Junior Brock Roggie (Lowville, N.Y.) led a nine-hit Bridgeport offensive attack on the day going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Senior Mike Olszyk (Hamden, Conn.) and junior Justin Weakley (Cold Brook, N.Y.) each had two hits for the Purple Knights, and Olszyk and Michael James (Sr., Piscataway, N.J.) each had an RBI for UB.
Sophomore Brian O'Keefe (Milford, Conn.), the first of four Bridgeport pitchers, took the loss in his first appearance of the 2013 season.
The Purple Knights are back in action this Saturday. March 9, when they open their Spring Trip to the Sunshine State in Winter Park, Florida, with a 10:00 a.m. contest versus Stonehill College. That game will be played at Rollins College.
