Pair Of Eighth Inning Runs Give Post a 5-4 Baseball Win Over UB
Bridgeport Returns To ECC Play On Friday When STAC Comes To The Ballpark At Harbor Yard
Bridgeport, Conn.-The Post University Eagles scored two runs with two outs in the top of the eighth inning and held the University of Bridgeport baseball team scoreless in the final two innings to notch a 5-4 non-conference win over the Purple Knights on Wednesday at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The Eagles are now 12-24 overall. UB slips to 9-15 on the season.
Trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Bridgeport rallied for four runs to take a one-run lead on a two-RBI hit by sophomore Jesse Solar (Marlton, N.J.) and the other two runs were plated by seniors Matt Nassi (N. Providence, R.I.) and Eric Schlitter (Guilford, Conn.).
Sophomore John Ascenzia (West Haven, Conn.) had two hits on the day for UB going 2-for-5 at the plate.
Junior Garrett Rogers (Rennselear, N.Y.), the seventh of eight Bridgeport pitchers, took the loss and is now 0-2 on the season.
Next up for the UB baseball game is a single ECC game with St, Thomas Aquinas at home on Friday afternoon. Game time at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard is set for 3:30 p.m.
