T.J.O'Leary Stars On The Mound For The Irish National Baseball Team At The 2011 European Baseball Championship
Former UB Hurler Fires A Four-Hit Shutout In Win Over Hungary
Barcelona, Spain-Former University of Bridgeport standout pitcher T.J. O'Leary helped the Irish national team to a 10-0 win over Hungary on Wednesday at the 2011 European Baseball Championships , as he fired a four-hit , complete game shutout in which struck out six without issuing a walk.
The 2011 European Baseball Championships are being held in Barcelona, Spain from July 25-July 30.
O'Leary, who pitched for the Purple Knights during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, is in his second year representing the Republic of Ireland on the diamond. The Irish National Baseball team is made up of approximately 60% Irish-Americans that played either college or professional ball in the United States, and 40% Irish citizens.
The Irish national team returns to the field on Thursday, July 28 when they will take on the host Spanish national squad, and they will complete round-robin play the following day versus Finland.
