Baseball Wins 18-10 Slugfest At Queens
UB Rallies From Being Down 9-2 To Pick Up The Victory
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team rallied from a 9-2 deficit heading into the top of the fifth inning to win an 18-10 slugfest over the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Friday afternoon in New York City. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 21-9 overall and 14-6 in the ECC. Queens falls to 9-27 overall and 7-15 in conference play.
Senior Peter Barrows (Old Saybrook, Conn.) knocked in six runs for UB. Junior Matt Ranaudo (Milford, Conn.) added four runs batted in, and junior Eric Schlitter (Guilford, Conn.) contributed three RBIs. Junior Ryan Barba (Strafford, Conn.) had two runs batted in for the winners.
Reliever Tom Wiacek (Bolton Landing, N.Y.) picked up the win for Bridgeport to even his season record at 2-2.
UB and Queens will continue their five-game ECC series in Flushing on Saturday afternoon with a noon doubleheader.
