Baseball Nips Bentley, 4-3, In 13 Innings
Senior Peter Barrows Singles Home Winning Run With Two Outs in 13th
Ormond Beach, Fla.-Senior Peter Barrows (Old Saybrook, Conn.) singled home the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the thirteenth inning to lift the University of Bridgeport baseball team to a 4-3 win over the Bentley University Falcons in a contest played in Ormond Beach, Florida on Thursday afternoon. The win lifts Bridgeport's overall record to 5-1. Bentley is now 5-8 in the early going of the 2011 season.
Barrows' game-winning hit was his second base knock of the day. Also recording two hits for the Purple Knights were seniors Mike DeLellis (Marlton, N.J.), Gaetano Giunta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Tyler Moffatt (Colonie, N.Y.).
DeLellis (1-0) was the winning pitcher for Bridgeport, as he fired two scoreless innings after catching the first 11 innings of the game.
The Purple Knights wrap up their Spring Break trip to Florida on Friday afternoon when they face Stonehill College.
