Dominant Fourth Set Highlights Volleyball's 3-1 Win over Post
The Purple Knights scored the first 18 points in the final frame en route to a 25-4 dominant triumph.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In a matchup between the two top teams in the CACC standings, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team earned a 3-1 win (25-20, 25-15, 21-25, 25-4) over Post on Wednesday night. The triumph improves the Purple Knights' record to 19-9 this season, including 12-3 in the CACC.
A remarkable fourth set highlighted UB's seventh straight win on Wednesday. The Purple Knights scored the first 18 points in the final frame en route to a 25-4 dominant triumph.
It was the usual suspects who led Bridgeport against the Eagles.
Jaden Drollinger piled up a season-high 51 assists in a four-set match to raise her conference-leading average to 10.11 helpers per set this season.
Drollinger also added six kills, eight digs and a pair of service aces in the match.
Drollinger's assists were mainly dished to the trio of Hailey Jessen, Lucia Tomiello and Paola Hernandez.
Jessen racked up a team-best 19 kills while Lucia Tomiello registered 15 putaways and a .538 hitting percentage.
Paola Hernandez, meanwhile, chipped in 14 kills and 16 digs. The CACC's leader in kills per set (3.60) now has recorded a team-best 12 double-doubles this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Grace Presswood led UB with 20 digs while Ella Bowman put forth 18. Tomiello finished first on Bridgeport with 3.5 blocks.
As a team, the Purple Knights hit .301, totaled 79 digs and recorded seven blocks.
