Purple Knights Beat Bears 3-0 In Bridgeport
UB women’s volleyball won their third conference contest in a row after sweeping Bloomfield at home Wednesday night.
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team continued their conference winning ways Wednesday evening with a comfortable sweep of Bloomfield College. UB won their three straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-15. The win improves Bridgeport's season record to 17-6 overall and 10-1 in CACC play.
A scrappy but effective Bears team was able to defend well, keeping balls alive often and putting the Purple Knights off balanced at times. Bridgeport reacted well, varying attacks between shoot sets to the middle and outside hitter.
UB's attack was led by standout Freshman Hailey Jessen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with her 13 kills, while hitting .458 and adding two digs and two aces.
Leading the dig department was Grace Presswood (Fr., S. Dennis, Mass.) with eight defenses along with three kills and two assists.
Junior Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) had a solid outing for the Purple Knights, contributing nine kills and seven digs.
Junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) provided 36 assists while adding five digs and three aces.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will be back in action at home on Saturday, October 28th at 6:00 p.m. against Jefferson University as part of UB Homecoming festivities.
