Volleyball Ends Long Road Swing With Loss At New Haven
Team Returns Home After Opening the Season With 17 Of 19 Matches Away From Hubbell Gym To Face Daemen On Saturday
West Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to the host University of New Haven Chargers in non-conference action on Wednesday night, 20-25, 19-25, 22-25. UB is now 15-4 overall, and the host Chargers up their season mark to 8-5.
Senior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' offense with 10 kills on Wednesday.
Classmates Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) were next in line on the Bridgeport kills list with nine and eight respectively. Burford also notched 10 digs, and Hennemann added 12.
Sophomore setter Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) finished Wednesday's match with a double-double of 33 assists and 11 digs.
Junior Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led the Bridgeport backline on defense with a match-high 23 digs.
Up next, the Bridgeport volleyball team returns home for its first match in the Park City since September 17 when the team gets back into East Coast Conference play with a 12 noon tilt versus Daemen College. After playing 17 of their first 19 matches away from the friendly confines of Hubbell Gym, Bridgeport will now finish the season eight of their last 10 contests at home.
