Balanced Offense Leads UB Volleyball To Sweep Over Mercy In 2019 ECC Opener
Bridgeport Now 12-2 Overall On The Season
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team cruised to a straight sets, 25-22, 25-17, 25-21, win over the host Mercy College Mavericks in the 2019 East Coast Conference opener for both teams on Thursday night. UB is now 12-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Mercy slips 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the ECC.
Senior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led a balanced Bridgeport offense on Thursday with 11 kills. Senior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) and sophomore Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), each had eight kills, and senior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) added six kills for the winners.
Sophomore setter Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) finished with her double-double number eight on the season with 28 assists and 12 digs.
Classmate Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) also finished with 12 digs for the Purple Knights on Thursday.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will head to New York City on Saturday for a conference clash against Queen (N.Y.) College. First serve is set for 12 noon.
