UB Volleyball Suffers First Home Loss Of 2018 Falling To New Haven
Purple Knights Back In Action On Saturday At Home In ECC Action Versus Roberts Wesleyan
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team suffered its first home loss of the 2018 season (8-1 home record now) on Tuesday night, as the host Purple Knights fell in a non-conference contest to the visiting University of New Haven Chargers, the top-ranked team in the East Region, in straight sets, 20-25, 23-25, 15-25. UB is now 13-11 overall; while UNH moves to 23-4 on the season.
Junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led Bridgeport with seven kills on the night. Three Purple Knights, junior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) plus freshmen Taylor Hyatt (Broomfield, Colo.) and Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) each had six kills on the evening. Hyatt also led the team with three blocks.
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led Bridgeport with 16 assists, and she also had a team-high four service aces on the night.
On defense, freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) led the UB defense with a match-best 19 digs, and sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) also reached double digits in digs with 14.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will host Roberts Wesleyan College in East Coast Conference action on Saturday in Hubbell Gym. First serve is set for 12 noon.
