Women's Volleyball Remains Perfect At Home With ECC Sweep Over NYIT
Purple Knights Now 8-0 This Season At Hubbell Gym
Bridgeport, Conn.-Playing the squad's first home match since September 29, the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team remained perfect within the friendly confines of UB's Hubbell Gym with a straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20, win over the visiting NYIT Bears on a rainy Saturday in the Park City. The Purple Knights, who are now 8-0 at home so far in 2018, raise their overall record to 13-10, and their conference mark to 7-5. NYIT is now 12-15 overall and 4-8 in the ECC.
Junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a fine afternoon for the winners notching a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs. Knight also hit .321 on the day.
Freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was second on the Purple Knights' in kills with eight, and she finished tied for team lead in blocks for Bridgeport with classmate Taylor Hyatt (Broomfield, Colo.), as the each had three on the day.
Senior Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a team-high 16 assists, and she was joined in double figures by freshman Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) with 13 assists.
On defense, sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) with 13 and freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) with 11, each reached double-digits in digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will continue a four-match homestand to close out the 2018 regular season when they host local rival, the University of New Haven, in the Purple Knights' final non-conference contest of the season on Tuesday evening in Hubbell Gym. Action is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
