Purple Knights Start Strong But Fall In Four Sets At LIU Post In ECC Volleyball Action
UB Returns Home On Saturday At Face NYIT At 12 Noon
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team wrapped up a tough, seven-match road swing with a four set loss at LIU Post on Friday night. UB took the opening set, 25-20, and led 24-21 in the second set before falling 30-32, 21-25, 22-25. With the loss, the Purple Knights are now 12-10 overall and 6-5 in the East Coast Conference. LIUP moves to 17-11 overall and 7-4 in the ECC.
Junior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) led Bridgeport with 12 kills, and she was joined in double figures by freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with 11 kills.
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 21 assists on the night, and freshman Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) also reached double-digits with 18 assists.
On defense, UB freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) notched a match-high 24 digs.
The UB women's volleyball team is right back in action in less than 24 hours, as the team returns to the friendly confines of Hubbell Gym to face NYIT on Saturday. First serve in the Park City is set for 12 noon.
