Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-It was a tough night on the road for the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team, as the Purple Knights fell in Straight sets at Mercy College, 21-25, 19-25, 25-27. With the loss, UB is now 11-7 overall and 5-3 in East Coast Conference play. Mercy is now 7-13 overall and an even 4-4 in the ECC.
Junior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) led Bridgeport with 10 kills.
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a match-high 32 assists for the Purple Knights, and sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) recorded a match-best 21 digs.
The UB women's volleyball team is right back in action on Thursday night as the squad travels up I-91 to Springfield, Mass. To face American International College. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
