Women's Volleyball Opens Seven-Match Road Swing With Four-Set Loss At Daemen
Purple Knights Fall To The Host Wildcats, 19-15, 19-25, 25-23, 13-25
Amherst, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team opened a demanding seven-match road trip on Friday night by traveling to Western New York for an East Coast Conference tilt at Daemen College. UB fell to the host Wildcats in four sets, 19-15, 19-25, 25-23, 13-25. Bridgeport is now 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Daemen stays unbeaten in the ECC at 6-0, and they move to 11-8 overall.
Purple Knights' junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led all players in match with 15 kills, and she was joined in double-digit kills by freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with 10. Keller also added three blocks for UB.
Junior Galia Nankin (Ra'anana, Israel) had nine kills on Friday night for Bridgeport.
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a match-best 37 assists for the Purple Knights.
On defense, Bridgeport was led by sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) with a match-high 22 digs, and freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) also reached double figures in digs with 10.
Friday was a tough night behind the service line for the Purple Knights, as they committed 14 service errors and recorded only two aces in the loss.
The UB women's volleyball team will get right back into action looking to get back in the win column in less than 24 hours, as they travel to Rochester, New York to face Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon. First serve is slated for 12 noon.
