Volleyball Sees Five-Match Winning Streak End With Tough Five-Set Loss At Adelphi
Purple Knights Will Now Host Molloy On Friday In Key ECC Contest
Garden City, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night on Long Island, as the Purple Knights lost a hard-fought, five-set, non-conference match to the host Adelphi University Panthers, 25-22, 13-25, 25-23, 18-25, 11-15. UB is now 7-4 overall, and Adelphi raises its season mark to 10-3 with the victory.
Junior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) led the Bridgeport offense with 15 kills.
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 37 assists for the Purple Knights.
On defense, three UB players reached double figures in digs, as freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) had 22, sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) had 14, and junior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) notched 10 on the evening.
Up next, the UN women's volleyball team will open a weekend homestand on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym with a key conference match-up against Molloy College.
