Volleyball Picks Up Third Straight Win With Four-Set Road Victory Over St. Rose
Purple Knights Will Open 2018 ECC Play At Home Versus Mercy Tomorrow Night
Albany, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team earned its third straight win to raise its overall season record to 5-3 so far in 2018 with a four-set, 22-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-19, road victory over the host College of St. Rose Golden Knights on Tuesday evening in the capital of New York state. With the loss, St. Rose is now 6-5 overall.
Junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' offense with 14 kills on the night.
Galia Nankin (Jr., Ra'anana, Israel) chipped in nine kills for the winners, and classmate Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) had a fine all-around night with eight kills and a career-high nine blocks plus two service aces.
Freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) continued her fine early season play with six kills and five blocks.
Bridgeport senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led her team with 28 assists and also had three of UB's 11 service aces on Tuesday. Freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) topped Bridgeport with four service aces on the evening.
Sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led the Purple Knights' defense with 12 digs against the Golden Knights.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will open East Coast Conference play on Wednesday night at home when they host Mercy College. First serve in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
