UB Women's Volleyball Sweeps Assumption On Friday Night In Hubbell Gym
Purple Knights Now 4-3 Overall And Are Next In Action At St. Rose On Tuesday Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team moved its home record 3-0 so far in 2018 and lifted its overall ledger to 4-3 with a straight sets, 25-8, 25-22, 25-19, victory over the visiting Assumption College Greyhounds in Hubbell Gym on Friday night.
Junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' offense with a match-high 12 kills on Friday.
UB freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a strong night at the net for the winners notching eight kills and adding four blocks (one solo), plus she contributed two service aces.
Junior Galia Nankin (Ra'anana, Israel) had seven kills for Bridgeport, and classmates Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Makayla Maroney (Parker, Colo.), each added six kills.
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a match-best 27 assists to give her a total of 3,293 helpers for her stellar Bridgeport career. Rich also chipped in four digs, two service aces and a block for the Purple Knights.
Freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) led the UB defense on Friday evening with 18 digs to lead all players in the match.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will travel to Albany, New York on Tuesday night to face the College of St. Rose. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
