Purple Knights Will Be Back In Action At Home On Thursday Night Versus Queens
Rockville Centre. N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team fell in straight sets in an East Conference contest on Long Island versus the host Molloy College Lions on Wednesday evening by scores of 22-25, 22-25, 13-25. With the loss, UB is now 11-13 overall and 7-4 in conference play. Molloy ups its season mark to 21-5, and its ECC record to 10-2. The win by the Lions snaps a 15-season, 25-match losing streak against Bridgeport.
The UB offense struggled all evening, as the Purple Knights hit only .080 as a team, committing 20 attack errors.
Bridgeport junior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) finished with a double-double on the night with 20 assists and 14 digs.
Sophomore Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) had nine digs to lead the Purple Knights, and senior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) added seven kills. Hennemann finished just shy of her own double-double as she recorded 10 digs at Molloy.
Freshman libero Olivia Storaci (Longmont, Colo.) led the UB defense with 16 digs.
The Bridgeport women's volleyball team will look to get back in the win column and snap a two-match losing skid tomorrow night when they host Queens (N.Y.) College in an East Coast Conference tilt.
