Team Has Won Four In A Row And Seven Of Its Last Eight Matches
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team evened its 2017 season record at 8-8 and moved to 4-1 in East Coast Conference play with a straight sets, 25-22, 25-15, 25-12 road win over the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights in New York City on Wednesday night. The victory gives the Purple Knights a four-match winning streak, and UB has now won seven of its last eight contests. With the loss, QC slips to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in the ECC.
Sophomore Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) led the Bridgeport offense on Wednesday with 13 kills.
Senior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) notched a double-double for the winners with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Junior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the UB offense with 29 assists, and she chipped in seven digs.
Freshman libero Olivia Storaci (Longmont, Colo.) recorded a match-best 12 digs to lead the Purple Knights.
The UB volleyball team is next in action one week from tonight on Wednesday, October 11, when the Purple Knights host a big East Coast Conference contest against NYIT. First serve in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
