Two Purple Knights Earn Weekly ECC Volleyball Awards
Amanda Hennemann And Ellie Rich Recognized For Their Play As UB Goes 2-0 Last Week
West Babylon, N.Y.-Two members of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team have been recognized by the East Coast Conference for their outstanding play in matches that took place from September 25 through October 1, 2017. Sophomore Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) has been selected as the ECC's Player of the Week, and junior Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) has been named the conference's Setter of the Week.
Hennemann helped UB go 2-0 last week as she averaged 3.17 kills and 3,17 digs per set plus hit a blistering .543 registering 19 kills on 35 attempts with no errors in two matches played. She also had three service aces and one assist on the week. In a win over Mercy, Amanda had eight kills and 12 digs, as she hit .500, and she followed that up with 11 kills and seven digs in a sweep at Stonehill in which she hit .579.
Rich continued her all-around solid play so far in 2017 picking up double-doubles in both UB matches last week, as she helped her team go 2-0 averaging 9.83 assists and 3.33 digs per set. She also chipped in four kills, two service aces and one block on the week. In a 3-0 win over Mercy, Ellie, who has notched three consecutive double-doubles entering this week's play and a total of five on the season, had 30 assists and 10 digs, and she followed with 29 assists and 10 digs in a road sweep over Stonehill.
This week, the UB volleyball team hosts Molloy College on Tuesday night and travels to Queens (N.Y.) College on Wednesday evening.
