Four Players Notch Double-Doubles As UB Volleyball Tops LIU Post In Four Sets
Purple Knights Now 6-1 In ECC Action And 10-9 Overall+
Brookville, N.Y.-Four players had double-doubles in the match as the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team raised its East Coast Conference record to 7-1, and its overall mark to 10-9, with a four-set, 25-11, 25-23, 18-15, 25-23 win over the host LIU Post Pioneers on Tuesday evening on Long Island. The Purple Knights have now won seven of their last 10 matches. With the loss, LIU Post slips to 7-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Senior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led UB with 14 kills and finished with a double-double, adding 20 digs.
Freshman Claire Anderson (Oak Harbor, Wash.) also reached double-digit kills with 13 and finished with a double-double contributing 10 digs.
Junior Sheri Middleton (Humboldt, Kansas) and senior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) fell just shy of double-figure kills with nine apiece. Middleton play fine defense at the net on Tuesday with five blocks.
Sophomore setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) notched a double-double directing the Bridgeport offense with 40 assists and amassing 17 digs.
Senior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) completed the quartet of Purple Knights with double-double, as she had 13 digs and a season-high 10 assists.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team returns to Hubbell Gym to continue East Coast Conference play against Mercy College on Thursday night. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
