UB Volleyball Back In The Win Column With Four-Set Road Victory Over Felician
Team Will Open A Three-Match Homestand On Thursday Night Versus New Haven
Rutherford, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team got back in the win column on Tuesday night, as UB posted a four-set, 25-7, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11 non-conference win over the host Felician University Golden Falcons. The Purple Knights, winners of five of their last seven matches, are now 5-7 overall so far in 2016. The Golden Falcons remain winless at 0-14.
Freshman Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the UB offense with 13 kills on the night, and she finished with a .360 attack percentage.
She was joined in double-digit kills by junior Sheri Middleton (Humboldt, Kansas) with 10 kills. Middleton finished with a .533 attack percentage and added three blocks in the win.
UB junior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) fell one kill shy of making it three Purple Knights in double-figure kills, as she contributed nine with a .368 attack percentage.
Senior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had an excellent all-around match for the winners, as she led the team in digs with 15, and added seven kills and six service aces.
Senior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) had seven kills on nine total attacks with no errors on Tuesday night to finish with an impressive .778 attack percentage. As a team, the Purple Knights hit .356 on the evening.
Sophomore setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the Purple Knights' offense to the tune of a match-high 38 assists, and senior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) chipped in 14 digs for the victors.
Up next, the UB volleyball team will open a three-match homestand on Thursday night in Hubbell Gym with a 7:00 p.m. match against local rival, the Chargers of the University of New Haven.
