Bridgeport Falls In Four Sets In Non-Conference Volleyball Action At St. Rose
Purple Knights Now 4-7 Overall And Will Look To Get Back In Win Column At Felician On Tuesday night
Albany, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team saw its overall record slip to 4-7 so far in 2016 with a four-set, non-conference loss at the College of St. Rose on Friday. The host Golden Knights topped the visiting Purple Knights, 25-18, 27-29, 25-22, 25-19. St. Rose is now 5-6 overall.
Three Purple Knights reached double-digits in kills on Friday led by junior Sheri Middleton (Humboldt. Kansas) with 12. Senior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and freshman Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) each had 11 kills on the night for UB.
Senior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) added nine kills and four service aces for Bridgeport on Friday, and junior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) led the team with five service aces in the match.
Errors were a problem for the Purple Knights in the loss, as the team committed 23 attack errors plus 12 errors on the service line.
Sophomore setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) finished the match with 37 assists, and senior, libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) lead all player on the evening with 22 digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will close out a brief, two-match road swing and look to get back in the win column at Felician University on Tuesday night, October 4th at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Hubbell Gym on Thursday night to face local rival the University of New Haven.
