Purple Knights Fall In Hard-Fought Women's Volleyball Match At AIC
UB Will Open Its 2016 Home And ECC Schedule On Tuesday Versus LIU Post
Springfield, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team lost a hard-fought, non-conference road match to the red-hot American International College Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night, 21-25, 24-26, 22-25. With the loss, the visiting Purple Knights fall to 0-5 on the young 2016 season. AIC is off to one of the best starts in program history, as the hosts are now 9-1 overall.
On offense for UB, freshman Claire Anderson (Oak Harbor, Washington) led her team with 11 kills. Junior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) had nine kills.
Sophomore setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) finished with a double-double on the night for Bridgeport dishing out 32 assists and recording 10 digs.
Senior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) led the UB defense with 18 digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will open its 2016 home schedule and its East Coast Conference slate next Tuesday, September 20 when the LIU Post Pioneers come to Harvey Hubbell Gym. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
