Purple Knights Fall In NCAA Division II East Regional Final To NYIT
Bears Sweep UB To Move Onto NCAA National Quarterfinals
Garden City, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team saw its season end in the NCAA Division II East Regional Final for the second straight season and the third time in four seasons, as the number two seeded Purple Knights fell to the number four seeded NYIT Bears, 3-0, 15-25, 23-25, 26-28. UB wraps up its 2015 season at 27-9, and NYIT advances to the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals in Tampa, Florida with a 28-7 record.
Senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led the Purple Knights with 10 kills on the night. Junior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) added nine kills for UB.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 20 assists on the night, and junior libero Ameile Guinci (Cannes, France) recorded a match-leading 18 digs for UB.
Karolina Moderova led the victorious Bears with 14 kills.
Cruz, Rich, Frida Randen (Jr., Sodertalje, Sweden) and Katarina Krstonosic (Jr., Kikinda, Serbia) earned spots on the 2015 NCAA Division II East Regional All-Tournament Team.
