Voleyball Reaches ECC Championship Finals With 3-0 Sweep Over LIU Post
UB Looking For Fourth Consecutive ECC Crown
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team advanced to the finals of the 2015 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament being hosted by the top-seeded Purple Knights with a straight sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 win over the number four seed LIU Post Pioneers. With the win, UB is now 24-8 on the season. LIU Post sits at 23-10, and the Pioneers will await word on an NCAA at-large bid on Monday evening.
Bridgeport will be looking for its fourth straight ECC Championship Tournament title, and the Purple Knights will host number three seed NYIT on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., as the Bears topped number two seed Dowling College in four sets in Friday's other semifinal.
Junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) led a balance UB attack with 13 kills. Bridgeport junior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) also reached double-digit kills with 11 on Friday night.
Seniors Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) and Jade Zhao (Huhhot, China) each had nine kills for the winners, who hit .347 as team on the night.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the Bridgeport offense to the tune of 42 assists, and junior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) led all players on the evening with 14 digs.
Taryn McCullouch led LIU Post with 10 kills.
