Purple Knights Move To 11-1 In ECC Volleyball Play With 3-1 Win At Mercy
UB Now 18-8 Overall
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team upped its 2015 East Coast Conference record to 11-1 on Thursday night with a four-set. 20-25, 25-10, 25-18, 25-18, road win over the host Mercy College Mavericks. UB is now 18-8 overall, and the host Mavs slip to 6-23 overall and 1-11 in conference play.
Junior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) led the UB offense with 13 kills. Randen also added seven digs, four service aces and four block assists on the night.
Classmate Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) had a double-double in the win with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Seniors Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) and Jade Zhao (Huhhot, China) also chipped in 10 kills apiece for the winners.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 42 assists on the night, and senior Martina Santia (Sezze, Italy) helped out on defense with 13 digs.
The UB women's volleyball team will now be idle for one week before the return to the court next Thursday evening in Hubbell Gym when they host Queens (N.Y.) College at 7:00 p.m.
