Purple Knights See Nine-Match Winning Streak Snapped
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team saw its nine-match winning streak snapped on Friday night, as the Purple Knights dropped a hard-fought, four-set decision to the visiting Adelphi University Panthers in Hubbell Gym, 23-25, 32-20, 22-25, 21-25. UB is now 12-7 overall, and Adelphi raises its overall season mark to 12-4.
Junior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led the Purple Knights with 19 kills.
Senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) notched a double-double for the hosts with 13 kills and 11 digs, and junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) also had a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs.
UB freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed her team's offense to the tune of 47 assists, and junior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) registered a team-best 24 digs.
Mandy Stanislovatis led the Panthers with a match-leading 24 kills.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday night when the Purple Knights host Dowling College in an important East Coast Conference match. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
