Purple Knights Pick Up 3-0 Non-Conference Volleyball Win Over Bentley
UB Has Now Won Six Straight Matches
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team ended Bentley University's eight-match winning streak and upped its own winning streak to six, as the host Purple Knights topped the visiting Falcons in straight sets, 25-19, 25-14, 25-16. With the victory, UB is now 9-6 overall. Bentley is now 9-5 overall. Friday's match was a rematch of the 2014 NCAA Division II East Region Semifinals which the Purple Knights won in four sets.
Senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led Bridgeport with a match-high 14 kills and fell just shy of a double-double nine digs.
UB junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) recorded her seventh straight double-double 13 kills and 14 digs.
Junior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) had a nice night on offense crushing eight kills for the Purple Knights with an impressive .500 attack percentage.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) surpassed the 500 assists mark on the season, as she had 38 on Friday which gives her a total of 506 on the year through 15 matches.
Junior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) led Bridgeport with 13 digs and also contributed four service aces in the win.
The Bridgeport women's volleyball team will wrap up a busy three days of play with a tri-match at Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon. UB will Merrimack at 1:00 p.m., followed by a contest against the host Owls at approximately 3:00 p.m.
