Volleyball Moves To 3-0 In ECC Play With Four-Set Win At LIU Post
Purple Knights Now 7-6 Overall In 2015
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team moved to 3-0 in East Coast Conference play and upped its 2015 overall record to 7-6 with an impressive, four-set, 26-24, 25-19, 28-30, 27-25 road win over the host LIU Post Pioneers on Tuesday night. LIUP is now 10-4 overall and 2-1 in the ECC.
UB junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) led all players in the match with 19 kills, and she recorded her fifth consecutive double-double with 21 digs.
Two other Purple Knights, Sara Cruz (Jr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and classmate Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) also reached double-digit kills, as Cruz notched a season-best 16, and Randen slammed 12 kills with a .476 attack percentage.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) continued her impressive collegiate debut season, as she had 42 assists and notched a double-double with 10 digs.
On defense for Bridgeport, junior Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) led all plyers on Tuesday with 23 digs, and senior Martina Santia (Sezze, Italy) stood tall in the UB back row adding 14 digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team continues a busy week of action with a back-to-back home matches, as they host Mercy in ECC action on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Bentley University in non-conference play on Friday, also at 7:00 p.m.
