Bridgeport Volleyball Picks Up Third Straight Win With Road Sweep Over Southern New Hampshire
Purple Knights Now 6-6 Overall; Team Returns To ECC Action At LIU Post On Tuesday Night
Manchester, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its third win in a row and fourth victory in its last five outings, as the Purple Knights picked up a 25-11, 26-24, 25-22 road sweep over the host Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Friday evening in the Granite State. UB is now 6-6 overall, and SNHU falls to 6-8 on the season.
Bridgeport junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) led all players on the night with 14 kills, and she notched her fourth straight double-double recording a team-best 18 digs. Krstonosic also had three service aces, two assists and a block in Friday's win.
Freshman Kira Shapiro (Omaha, Neb.) was second on the Purple Knights in kills on the night with eight, and she chipped in three blocks.
UB junior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) had six kills for the winners, and senior Jade Zhao (Huhhot, China) played a strong match at the net registering four kills plus five blocks.
Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the UB offense to the tune of a match-high 29 assists.
Junior Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) amassed double-digit digs with 14, and classmate Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) also reached double figures in digs with 10.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team returns to East Coast Conference play when the team heads to Long Island on Tuesday night for an important match against LIU Post. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
