Pensacola, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team split two matches on the final day of the 2015 Hampton Inn-viational hosted by the University of West Florida on Saturday, as the Purple Knights defeated Missouri-St. Louis in four sets, 13-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-23, to earn their first win of the season and fell to the host Argos in straight sets, 20-25, 15-25, 15-25. UB is now 1-3 on the year.
In the win over UMSL, senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led the Purple Knights with a match-high 17 kills and a .325 attack percentage. Newcomer Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) fell just shy of a double-double with 10 digs and nine kills. Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) directed the UB offense with 33 assists and also added eight digs, three block assists and two kills.
Against West Florida, Krstonosic led Bridgeport with seven kills, and Rich had 15 assists.
The Purple Knights return the court next Friday and Saturday at the California University of Pa. Invitational in the Keystone State. UB will open play on Friday, September 11 at 12 noon versus Saginaw Valley State University.
