Biljana Savic Named ECC Co-Volleyball Player of the Week
Honors Marks The Fourth Time In 2014 Savic Has Received ECC Accolades
Central Islip, N.Y.-For the fourth time this season, University of Bridgeport women's volleyball standout Biljana Savic (Grad. Student, Novi Sad, Serbia) was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week, as she was named Co-ECC Player of the Week sharing the award with Dowling's Katzrzyna Klocek for their outstanding play in matches from November 3 through 9, 2014.
Savic helped UB go 2-0 on the week and complete a perfect 16-0 ECC regular season slate last week by again showing her versatility. Biljana averaged 3.3 kills with a .311 attack percentage, 7.33 assists and 2.33 digs per set. She nearly had a triple-double in each match recording 10 kills, 25 assists and eight digs at Adelphi, and 10 kills, 19 assists and six digs at Queens.
This week, Biljanaand her teammate will host the 2014 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament in Hubbell Gym looking for their third consecutive conference crown. The Purple Knights will face Roberts Wesleyan College at 5:00 p.m. in one semifinal, and Dowling will take on LIU Post at 7:30 p.m. in Friday's other semifinal match-up. The two winners from Friday night will meet at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday for the ECC title and an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship that will begin on Thursday. November 20.
