Volleyball Continues To Roll Along Sweeping LIU Post At Home For Win Number Eight In A Row
Senior Larissa Oliveira Leads UB Offense With 11 Kills On The Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its eighth straight victory with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-10, 25-21) home East Coast Conference sweep over the LIU Post Pioneers on Tuesday evening in Hubbell Gym. UB is now 11-1 overall and remains undefeated at 6-0 in conference action. The Pioneers are now an even 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the ECC.
Senior Larissa Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led the Bridgeport offense with 11 kills. She also added two blocks, two assists and a service ace on the night. Classmate Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) had seven kills and seven digs for the Purple Knights.
Amanda Kunrath (Sr., Ivoti, Brazil) was solid offensively for the winners on Tuesday smashing six kills with a .375 attack percentage. Sophomore Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) chipped in five kills with a .364 attack percentage for UB.
Senior Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) recoded another double-double with 14 assists and 11 digs, and Savic also had five kills.
Graduate student Giovana Soares (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led Bridgeport with 15 assists, and senior Michele Santos (Campinas, Brazil) topped the Purple Knights' defense with 18 digs on the night.
The UB women's volleyball team will look to run its winning streak to nine when the Purple Knights travel to Mercy College for an ECC match-up on Thursday night in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
