Volleyball Rolls To Sixth Straight Win With Home Sweep Of Molloy
Purple Knights Move To 9-1 Overall And 4-0 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport volleyball team rolled to its sixth straight victory with a 25-13, 25-13, 25-17 sweep of the visiting Molloy College Lions in a home East Coast Conference on Tuesday night in Hubbell Gym. With the win, the Purple Knights up their season mark to 9-1 overall and stay unbeaten at 4-0 in conference play. Molloy is now 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the ECC.
Junior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led the Bridgeport offense with 10 kills. Rosa also had five service aces, six digs and one block.
Senior Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) added eight kills and nine digs for the winners, and sophomore Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) was red-hot on offense crushing seven kills with no errors for a .778 attack percentage.
Senior Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led UB with 23 assists, and she also contributed six kills (.750 attack percentage), eight digs and four service aces. Classmate Larissa Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had six kills, four digs and a block for the Purple Knights.
Graduate student Giovana Soares (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has 15 assists for Bridgeport, and senior Michele Santos (Campinas, Brazil) led the UB defense with 12 digs.
The Purple Knights will next travel to NYIT for a key early season ECC contest on Thursday night. Action on Long Island is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
