2013 Volleyball Season Comes To And End With Five-Set Loss To New Haven In East Regional Semifinal
UB Finishes Off 2013 At 22-3
Bridgeport, Conn.-The top-seeded University of Bridgeport Purple Knights saw their 2013 women's volleyball season come to an end on Friday night, as the host Purple Knights were defeated by the fourth-seeded University of New Haven Chargers, 3-2 (25-14, 20-25, 14-25, 25-22, 9-15) in the second semifinal in the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship East Regional. UB closes out its season at 22-3, and New Haven advances to Saturday's final versus LIU Post, who swept NYIT in Friday's first semifinal, with a 28-4 record.
Margo Meteyer led UNH with 12 kills, and Kea-Marie Olaso had 21 digs for the winners.
Junior Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) had a triple-double with 15 kills, 13 assists and 17 digs. Junior Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Senior setter Fernanda Silva (Brasilia, Brazil) had 26 assists, and sophomore libero Martina Santia (Sezze, Italy) chipped in 12 digs for UB.
